Maybe an old shot put? Or a counter weight for a steam engine? Or stone pirate cannon

The rusty one sure looks ferrous, it appears to have been molded from two halves.
It looks like a cannon balls I have found in the past.

Depending on where this came from, there were USA civil war era cannonballs, made from stone.

Am I right in seeing you've cut one in half?

I’m not sure exactly where it came from. It has been in Winnipeg sitting in my grandmas basement for as long as my mom can remember and my mom has never known what it is.. my grandmother comes from brockville Ontario which is close to the st.lawrence

DD74B839-46FC-4F58-8B35-D866321D65DC.jpeg Somehow it got broken? It’s not a perfect cut through but quite a bumpy cut, I would say it broke from impact

It still looks like a cannon ball to me. It could have simply split in two upon impact, or even simply being dropped on a hard enough surface if it hit a weak spot on the stone.

If not magnetic they could be natural rock formations. I only say this because I have tons of them around here (VA, USA). Some are oval some are round and come in sizes from quite small to over 2'. The kids always called them dinosaur eggs:D.

I have to run but I'll take some pics later.
