What's with these brass eagles??

Picked up one of these brass eagles today and after checking ebid discovered
a large range of these in exactly the same pose. Mine is I think the biggest version
at 26” wing tip to wing tip and about 4.6Kg. Then whilst watching “Madam Secretary”
on the TV I saw one in the background at the White House. Damn things are everywhere.
Is there an iconic sculpture or picture they are based on?

    Cheers

No idea really as there are eagles on everything and in every pose imaginable as the bald eagle our National bird.

Maybe it's "after" a sculpture by Jules Moigniez?

Yeah. No luck the as the "Eagles R us" stuff from India on eBid saturates the search even with eBid deleted from the search.

That's why I posted it here. I figured all you patriotic eagle loving Americans would know all about these figurines.

Might be. It just struck me as a little odd that there were two or three very common patterns to the figurines. Possibly a case of these being the best selling poses worked out after several decades of manufacture and sales so every one copies them.

I don't know about the brass ones, but this is just the posture the live ones go into when about to take a dump.

Well as a proud one of that type of American I’ve seen many stances/poses and also many live ones. I have eagles in various positions but none like this. However...I have seen this position on flagpole toppers. :)

I suppose it's meant to look like the eagle has spotted potential prey & is getting ready to stoop (are eagles said to stoop?), but, most of the time, when I think a bird is getting ready to push off into flight, what really happens is they push out & lighten the load.

If Cornell says they stoop. they stoop. And swoop.
