Whatzit handspike. Or apprentice machinist exam or...

    Object on right is 19" long, largest cross-section is 5/8 x 5/8", top is circular 7/16" dia. It is solid steel. The shape is identical to 5' long oak handspike used to maneuver heavy guns during the War of Northern Aggression. What is this small steel copy?

    I think it might be a crate opener from the retail world. In years gone by most things were shipped in wooden boxes and crates and nailed shut.
