Hey guys, not sure what to call this? Has a hole in base for a lamp, I guess? There are 2 of these. Seems to be of nice quality, about 11-15 inches tall, do not have it in hand. Wondering when it may have been made and any keywords. Mark on bottom looks like a 5. Thanks for any help.

Sorry, I just found one on eBay and do not know how to delete a thread here. Chinese? "Blanc de Chine"

I don't think you need to delete. I appreciated your identification of Blanc de Chine.

Don't think you can completely. May as well leave what is there & let us know what you found for our education. You found on eBay; are you satisfied that one is identified correctly? You asked for terms; 'perforated' is the first that came to my mind.

I doubt it is a vase, with a hole in the bottom.
More inclined to think lamp base. May have had a lower watt bulb in the bottom, with regular lamp socket for the top with shade.

I was going to second your 'reticulated' but as I started writing Pierced came to mind.

Per Wiki, Blanc de Chine is a type of white Chinese porcelain, made at Dehua in the Fujian province. A traditional European term for it is Blanc de Chine (French for "White from China". Pierced or reticulated are terms for the openings which make the design, so you could describe it as a "reticulated/pierced Blanc de Chine lamp base"

Thank you everyone, great breadth of knowledge here. Cluttered, I really like that idea of lower light and upper light, that would look great on this. Someone on eBay said a colored light bulb on the bottom looks nice too. May have to add this to my list of "to do's"! Have a couple more lamps to ask about on the main page next.
