Just started trying to identify some military related ties and posting this before you all disappear again!!. I'm guessing maybe RAF dog handler?
There are web pages for Distinctive Unit Insignia. I don't see a clear indicator that this is British. Could be American even if you found it in the UK. Here is an image page from Google. If you click on any of the websites, you can scroll through and maybe find it. https://www.google.com/search?q=dis...zXucDLAhWENT4KHSYpBd0QsAQIUg&biw=1920&bih=911
The eagle is facing the correct way for the RAF insignia although it does not have the royal crown above it. The broad arrows are also a British symbol for the War Dept. This is why I think its an unofficial emblem.
Aha. Unit Insignia aren't considered official over there, are they? I thought they were something each unit created for themselves.
This was why I thought RAF and UK, though I did check some US sites as well in case I was wrong. Tend to agree with the unofficial emblem, but would love to know whether the guess is right or whether it has some greater significance, like the Caterpillar club
If its on a Tie then I`m thinking its a group of retired RAF dog handlers that have formed an association for get togethers and reunions. Many were stationed overseas guarding bases of which there were hundreds. Most dog handlers have been bitten at sometime by their own dog either through frustration or in training.
I know It's an old question but I can tell you that "The Bitten Few" motif and tie was specifically designed for RAF Police Dog Handlers who completed a full tour of duty as "Criminals" at the RAF Police Dog School. The "Criminals" being the Practical Training Instructors and Practical Training Assistants who spent every day being chased and attacked by the dogs under training.
