This is a framed print on board that I've had for over 20 years. I bought her at a yard sale for $5.00, in Cleveland OH. The tag says "The May Co." , And someone added in pencil, '1928.' Size is 23x27"
    This is all good information.
But the burning question I have always had....
    Who is she?
One of our knowledgeable Antiquers must know....

Or Italian? My sister used to laugh and say that she was Anna Maria Alberghetti

I don’t know her, but is it unusual to have a scenic background? maybe that’s a clue?

I doubt it's her, but in a generic sort of way, she looks a bit like Ada Lovelace (Augusta Ada Byron), a famous Victorian proponent of computers.

Hair style is early Victorian. Here's Queen Victoria wearing something similar in 1842.

Presumably it is a reproduction of an original painted portrait. So, the sitter must have been prominent enough to merit reproduction, or the sitter may have been unknown but the painting was in a museum and valued for its quality enough that it was reproduced. Have you ever unframed it to see if there is any indication of the artist along the edges or on the back of the print?

There is no signature under the frame. Perhaps it was cropped out when the print was produced. I always thought she must have been someone of European nobility.
    I'll probably never know!

Not great with the 19th century Russian school, but that’s where I’m throwing my hat!
