Yesterday, while waiting around for the football games, i snagged this spice cabinet at a little country auction house in Mass, English, I'd guess 1st quarter 18th century.

I am trying to break my Box Jinx here, it's been 9 years since i lost Ruth and only god knows how many others over the years. I decided to try a different strategy, just put a box on the board, ANY BOX!

I hope! I haven't actually seen it in person yet, just the pics. I am secretly hoping it's american even though i am 99% sure it isn't. Seller didn't ID place/country of origin, still, it is a period box so, I got THAT goin for me. :cigar:

Sweet! I have no idea of retail on something like that, but it's nice. The best part is it's still useful. It's a box with drawers - perfect for holding all the odds and ends.

Yeah, that's what i was thinking as well. I researched a little on what a similar form english spice box goes for so i had a good idea when to stop bidding, i was at the end of my self imposed budget when the other guy/gal stopped bidding. It's a fair price, not a bargain but fair.

That's pretty. I can see why people would pay money for it. Early, rare and well-made, and it would fit into any house. Lots of old furniture is just too darned big or too style-specific. That crosses over between fine furniture and folk art and would go right into a modern setting too.

Still, nothing is going to replace the Ruth box except............the Ruth Box! It needs to come back to it's rightful owner.....ME!
Hoping this little english number gets me OFF THAT JINX! It's been 9 years!
