Woman's Face Sculpture In Acrylic Block

Can't tell for sure what is the face made of, glass, porcelain, resin?
I wonder how it got inside of the block. There is a paper tape piece on the back, at the eyes area. Why is it there and why it was not removed. Not very presentable looking. The sides of the plexiglass magnifies the image inside. I see if the front is magnified but the sides.
Any thoughts?

 

Also, the lucite is drilled on the back's bottom. I guess for hanging purpose but it would be nicer if the hole was on the top. So, maybe it is a home made project?

 

it's not a block.
it's two slabs pressed together.
the mask is fitted onto the front and the back is added on with a hole to make sure all the air is let out.

 

There are companies that will do this with keepsakes or presentation items ....

The tape on the back of the eyes was a dam to keep the black from leaking out while drying, someone forgot to remove it, bad person bad.

I thought maybe those sparkles were on purpose.....but now I'm wondering if the item is not that well made..?

 

So, what do you think the face is made of? Is this considered Art Deco style?

 

It looks like metal foil over plastic....but I can't see it well enough to know fer sure....

I wouldn't say it's Deco.
