I picked this up at GW for $25 and haven't been able to find another like it or any label, writing or stencils. I'm thinking it might be a custom piece for a shop of some type. Drafting maybe? It seems well made with some details. Nearly 4 ft tall at 47" and 27.5" square (1.19 x .7m).

One side has doors that open to shelves and are only half the depth on the top two, and the full depth on the bottom. Opposite side has deep shelves to the right and short to the left.

Some dividers are removable and it's missing a thin shelf. Other side and back have panel details.

Esteemed experts...have you seen something like this before? Do you also think it might be custom? Approximate era...mid century? Wood type? Let me know if you need other photos.

I'm just curious. I adore it and use it. It's in our studio holding all our art papers and many of our art tools.

I have one of those cabinets...I store frames and framed art in it. :D The top of this would only hold the littlest size and the middle is 18" (45.72 cm).

Hahaaa I gasped in the store and wouldn't leave it until my husband came to help me get it up front for purchase. It fits perfectly in-between his desk and the long table I use as a desk.

I thought it was oak only because I think every thing this tone is oak. In my house, that might actually be true but I don't really know most wood types. :hilarious:

Awesome -I'm an antique storage nut. Any sign of doors/hinges ever having been on the front ? One of our peerless researchers here may be able to find it in an old office furniture catalog (excuses for missing anyone)-

Does seem to be made for a specific purpose. Could indeed see this used in a drafting room with rolled material stored in the various cubbies. Not sure why some would have doors in this case but who knows?
