Featured Wood work box?

    Found in a swap-meet years ago labeled "old brown box". Paid a whole $10 for this nifty little find. I assume it's a work box of sorts but unsure of the age or origins.

    You did well. It is antique. Looks like a correspondence box.

    It probably was a multi use work box, it is missing the lift out tray from the front of the interior space. Looks English c1860 and in rosewood veneer. Even with the missing interior and large filled shrinkage split in the lid it was an absolute bargain at the price.

    Thanks everyone. I have always liked my bargain "old brown box" and I'm glad to know some of its history. When I give stuff to my kids or grandkids it's good to have some sort of story to pass along as well.
