Looks like Koa wood, is it heavy?

I’ll check for marks later. Not heavy but it’s kind of thin.

I’m seeing some Mahogony ones with a Sterling base, Cheryl also mentioned she had one, but I don’t know myself.

The small ends of the grain look like coconut, but the long grain doesn't.

I was thinking Philippine mahogany but don't know. It has a somewhat uncommon rolled rim.

The bowls I've had with silver bases I think have sometimes been marked on the outside.

No I doubt teak is out of the question. @Fid do you think it's teak?

I actually do not think it is teak, but would not rule that out.

As it's not appreciably heavy, and thin, I'm thinking it's some South American mahogany (or Philippine like SIS mentioned, thanks!)

Repairs on wood bowls can be a good thing if they or the bowl are old enough.
