Does anyone here have any idea as what the approximately age of this chair is, and what the style may be referred to as?

Fan back windsor chair, guesses 20th century, not a period 18th-19th century chair

Well, it appears to be a multi board seat so yes, kinda excludes it from being a period chair. The arms as well, i notice how short they are which you would not see in a period chair.

 

It's called a "brace-back"

 

This style of chair has been made since the 18th century and is still in production. This was probably at someone's kitchen table in the 1950s or 1960s, if it's American.

 

My parent's bought a set of dining room chairs in the 60's - the "big chairs" (like this one) for them and smaller ones for us kids. Ours were a lighter finish though.

 

Some of these mid 20th c. chairs are just darn neat - withstand heavy use and never moan or groan. . recently found a very similar one made by Conant Ball, ca. 50's - it kept a graceful, balanced look despite being constructed like tank.. . just wish id kept it.

 

Thanks everyone for the responses. It was a chair given to us to help fill our house when we bought it. We were planning on selling it in our yard sale in a April, and I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t selling something valuable.
