I’m hoping to find out more about this wooden chest I inherited from my Gran. It will be English. Does anyone know what it is likely to be made from and how old it is?

    Thanks

You should probably show a picture of the entire piece, feet an all so it can be better identified. Have you looked for any markings on the inside or on the bottom? All these are clues for you to find out.

Late 30s blanket box. Certainly English. Oak.

Don't see oak other than in some structural elements but agree otherwise.

Thank you. It’s in a very awkward place to get a full photo but I have not seen any markings on it and it’s actually has wheels attached to the end of the legs.

That is helpful, though. Casters can be used to potentially date your piece.

Sorry, meant oak on the carved bits and some other parts, rest is probably deal or pine.
