Wooden Swival office chair

Hi, We've just had this donated & we'd like to find out a bit more about it as it's pretty unusual to us here ... Is it old? Is it worth anything ? Can't find a makers mark anywhere & we'd love to know abit more about it if anyone can shed some light on this for us it would be most appreciated

It looks like it went through several revisions. The seat has been turned upside down. The added corners where replaced. The sides look weird to the rest of the turned back. It just looks too cobbled together. JMOH

You'll want to go back, edit your posting, and hit the "post all images FULL SIZE"..... some of us have older eyes here, plus doing that gives us better images to look at!!

The view from the underside looks like it may have been caned originally.

& been repaired , and strengthened with brackets....and looks like it came from a bar where they had lots of brawls.....

 

I'd hold on to your kingdom....for a while yet....

Late 19th or early 20th century. Don't think the seat has been reversed but it was originally caned. Has had some bracing added as well. Someone did a nice repair job on the back but it needs to be stained to match better. This would be priced about $25.00-30.00 in our local thrift (semi-rural Midwest). I would pass it by at that, as I can usually buy similar for less at auction or through other venues. Retail, of course, would be higher.

The cutouts being upside down would drive me mad.

 

Hadn't thought about them being upside down but you are probably right.
