Featured Wooden Treen Box

Good day
Another market find today is this wooden holder. I think it must be made of fruite wood or boxwood, bug not certain. I see it's called a treen holder or something similar. Any information will be welcome.

Lovely, and certainly treen (small hand made wooden item). I have seen them described as powder boxes, and made of boxwood.

I'd never heard of treen until I started watching Antiques Road Trip. That is what this looks like. There's some history on Wiki:

It's a lovely wee box, indeed! However, hand carved it ain't...lathe-turned, especially those threads at the top an' in the lid. Certainly hand-made though, an' beautifully done!

You're right, it is lathe turned. I'll edit it.

 

The wood has a spicy aroma and a beautiful golden shine. I wonder if it's from what it contained in past or would it be a aromatic wood?
It's super smooth and lovely to handle...like one can feel it's old.

It may have a French Polish finish, another indicator of its age, an' its quality!

 

I had an egg cup that looked similarly made and it had the sticker on from where it was made and it was either Washington State or Oregon - somewhere out there. There's a small company making treenware by hand.

 

It may have been Myrtle wood...there's an industry along the Oregon coast making treen utensils from it.
