Would you buy to restore? Deco cast iron vase

    I saw this in an antiques mall and loved it - only the one sadly. Is this worth trying to restore or too far gone?
    We have a sand blasting cabinet. It's got a crack you can see on the 3rd photo- does cast iron weld ok? (OH can do that too).
    It's about 14inches tall I'd guess and ticket is £44 but there may be some wriggle room.
    Obviously we can't restore the original paintwork especially if it was enamel but is it worth it do you think?

    Anything cast iron intrigues me - Looks like an easy restore job as you have all the equipment - for welding or brazing cast iron I always use "NICKEL 99" rods.

    It screams funeral vase to me,so no . But thats just my opinion .

    I can see why you would have reservations if that's what it is.

    Agree, graveyard thing. Buy the plastic lobster instead.

    Maybe get yourself a nice Bagley glass Grantham vase instead:

    Yes. That. I'm not a big fan of 30s "amber" but the cast iron one looks like a disaster-in-waiting.

    Massively overpriced, that and I agree it's a grave vase. I'd not pay more than a fiver at a car boot.

    Oh, I now see why everybody said "PASS ON IT" - I thought you already owned it - Duh!!! :banghead: Guess I really do need reading Glasses!

    I'd reuse them for shop rags or cleaning up after the cat.(LOL)
