Welcome, Pensyd. What a lovely piece. I only know that I wish it were mine & that we prefer photos full size:

Unusual transitional piece from Arts and Crafts moving into Deco ca. 1920-30. Beautiful leaded glass!

@Pensyd We love seeing beautiful things from all over the world! Unless told otherwise a lot of us are from the USA and make assumptions that you might be too.

    A lovely desk you have!

Across the big pond, north of the border, down-under, etc. . .I just wish everyone could be identified by country when you click on their avatar. . .would sure make some discussions easier. ;)

    Yah !!!
    Indeed !!
Country....gender....& real age.....would seem to be mandatory ...at least to know where a poster is coming from...

    Ok Cool then,

Well if there is anyone from Australia reading this and they can shed some light on the piece for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the compliments guys, yes it is a nice piece and after all these years still has the fresh timber smell to it.

We actually had 2 of these, another member of my family got the other one, not sure where that is now though sadly.

@Pensyd - I'm not from Australia, and wouldn't know a Drop Bear from a Numbat, but your lovely secretary breakfront (sometimes called a Side-By-Side Secretary) is quite possibly Acacia, having been manufactured Down Under, and given the fact that the wood has held its fragrance so long.

    Thank you @shallow_ocean_spectre
You have given me something to continue searching with.

By the way, Drop Bears - Very dangerous, Numbat - Very cute. :)

My inclination was to say it was English but that did not seem quite right based on the wood. Consequently, saying not American was the best I could do. We do have members from all over so having another from Australia is great. I doubt you will find another site more specific in orientation and hope you will find our insights helpful.

@verybrad your inclination is probably very correct, in that it was brought out from England.
My family is of Welsh decent, so that could very well be the situation.

Just out of curiosity, if this desk was in America, what sort of Value would be on it?

    Thanks
