I have this belt buckle, comes with a photo (and name) of the original owner - he is the one seated on the left side.
If selling on-line is it okay to include the photo and name in the listing? Not sure if it adds value to the piece or not? The buckle has dents, so not in the best of condition. DSC08564.jpg

Some personal connection always adds value to militaria.

The Gott Mit Uns slogan reminds me that the British were alleged to jibe, 'We got mittuns, too', waving their gloves.

As it turned out, it seemed the slogan was probably wrong.

Do a bit of research on the person first. Find out something interesting about him and you should be rewarded with a higher sale price.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

As long as the owner is no longer alive, including his name is a great idea. And he surely is no longer alive by now.

If you sell the buckle with the photo, I bet that would increase interest. If not, I'd be a little worried about the buyer being disappointed if they didn't read the listing carefully.

In addition to showing the buckle and photo separately, I think a shot of the buckle sitting on top of a corner of the photo would look cool.

It could also be effective to show a closeup of the part of the photo where the buckle is.

I just took a close-up of the buckle in the photo and it isn't the same one. Maybe one buckle for dress uniform and the other for everyday? Or maybe the photo and buckle don't really belong together?
I have been trying to find information on the fellow but not finding anything - so maybe the name is bogus?

Yes there is a mismatch. Your buckle is Imperial German and the photo shows Austro-Hungarian soldiers (and of course an A-H belt buckle.). The two armies both fought for Kaiser Bill but were from different countries.

I really like the chairs they are sitting in-anybody know where I can get some? Vienna?

A friend has one in excellent condition, marked and dated, on his site, scroll down about 16 items to no. B&B #37040.

In the old photo, the black collar on the A-H uniforms means they are infantry, as far as I know.
