WW2 Japanese Naval Officers Sword..Signature Help??

    Good photos. Maybe KH will show up to translate both sets of marks, the engraved ones and those painted on. The very coarse finish of the blade suggests very rushed, end-of-War production, last operation done with either grinding wheel or files rather than the laborious hand-polishing-to-mirror-finish of traditional Japanese swords.

    The blade looks good, the photo with the crosshatching is showing the "nakago" section with the handle removed.

    remember ..this is a WW2 military weapon....not an 18th century Samurai sword..
