    The bird design has a distinctively Mexican look. Based on the clay, the handles, colors used, and designs patterns, I'd say Guanajuato, Mexico.

    Similar pieces are dated "1970s" in Amanda Thompson's Ceramica, Mexican Pottery of the 20th Century.

    Any chance you can post images of the book examples?
    I posted on the FB Mexican pottery groups and members think not Mexican but possibly Italian, Spanish, Portuguese..
