Featured Yet….Another Rocker

    Supposedly belonged to great grandparents and the seat has been replaced a few times.
    Looks to me like someone threw some stain on it in the 70’s.
    Any info in regards to age and origin would be most helpful as always!

    Looks like it's "grain painted."

    I see where you’re coming from, particularly on the backside. I can say fairly confidently that it isn’t a painted on grain, just a heavy handed stain.

    I think it's terrific!!!!!!! I'm not seeing paint....just some stain...... @Ghopper????

    Both the front and the back of the backrest sure do look like it. The rest of the chair not so much.

    Circa 1900, American. Would probably lean more pre-1900 than post.

    1890s grain painted. Very handsome oak rocker.

    I’ll have to take a much closer look the next time I’m up there…the grain looked hyper-accentuated by the stain but totally natural…to me anyway.

    Thank You to all for all the information!! My mom will be happy to know that this one is what she thought it was!
