This bed is a curb side rescue. It looks like walnut or maple,
very heavy and solid. I am pretty sure it is 19th century, early, late? Any info is much appreciated :)

I'd guess Maple & this looks like a Sheraton cannonball bed, I'd guess mid 19th century.

I'd add it's tough to give away antique beds unless restored for the modern world which is expensive.

Keeping it for my guest room, it will fit a full mattress. Gotta figure out something for side rails.

    Hi,
I bought a firm queen size frame with a center post. It has holders for attaching even a double bed head and foot bed. Stop in and see the different frames they have in a large bedding store.

If you hadn’t have said that I would’ve thought it’s was much newer. Probably the finish, or maybe the turn work that just reminds me of “good” furniture from the 60’s and 70’s.

Except that bed furniture of that age (within our lifetime) doesn't usually have wooden pegs for the rope to support the mattress. ;)

I slept in a bed with very similar styling in the 50's and 60's. Hand-me-down from my parents who moved "up" to something bigger (dad was very tall) when I was about 8 and got my own room!

Exactly, the pegs kinda gave it away.

OR, you could stop in at Leonards who have been restoring antique beds since 1933, they do gorgeous work, pricey though.

Whoa....really expensive, but gorgeous. I prefer free with steel side rails. I'm gonna give it a deep clean and shine it up with wax.:shame:
