Picked this up for cheap for myself to wear. However, I am trying to guesstimate the age of this. It appears to be older with a single cut diamond. 10k gold. I've seen similar examples online but forget what the style was called and what they said about the age of it! Any input? If I had to guess I'd say early 1900s? I may have the shank reattached later on if I really like wearing it.

    Reattached? it's an adjustable ring.

If you look at each end of the readjustable part they are very uneven and amateurly done. Looks like someone cut it and sanded the ends. Cant see it in the picture, I'll take one later

How many facets on the top of the stone?

Gypsy-set stone. That may well have been around a while.

It looks like one from here - metal pushed around the stone to hold it in place. YMMV of course.

It actually does appear to be a gypsy set stone with the little 4 extra prongs for support. Something must hold the stone into the hole of the setting. In this case it is the 4 little prongs that hold the diamond in place.

Haven't had my jewler look at it yet. But what do you guys think on the age? Late 1800s early 1900s?

There is nothing on the ring to date it.How many facets are on the top of the stone.

Pretty ring ! Gypsy Set as stated, the diamond cut is hard to ID without seeing the facets or counting them. Looks like it MAY be an Old European cut but that's just a guess. How wide is this ring ? I think it looks more like a man's pinkie ring. If it was marked for gold content it may have been cut from the shank or was never there at all, if it is late Victorian or a bit later it was not unusual to have no mark.

I tried to count the facets but couldn't get an exact number on it.

I guess it's not a single cut stone then.... single cut has 8 facets and the table on the top of the stone.
