I bought this piece at an estate sale in Toronto, Canada about 10 years ago. The story was the original owners bought it in India while on holiday and shipped it back to Canada. Only proof I have I have of it being imported is there are Alan Franklin transport stickers on the back side of the unit. I've started to research it and have only found 1 photo online that is simular to the one I have. The similar item was sold at auction at Gorringes in 2016.

I'm wondering if anyone know's more about it? What it's worth? Where's the best place to sell it? My partner doesn't like it and want's it gone.

Could/would you post a photograph of the transport stickers?

There's this one on 1stDibs described as "Mid-19th century English Anglo-Indian ebonized rosewood and padouk writing table with 3 frieze drawers over entwined serpent trestle legs joined by a stretcher. (possibly Ceylonese)." It's listed for $42,000, which using my standard 1stDibs overpricing formula, would put it around $8,400 in the real world.

This one sold at auction in 2014 for Aus $9,000 (about $6500 US at current exchange rate). Described as "Anglo-Indian padouk consol table: Ornately pierced and carved scrolling foliate design with peacock upright and claw feet, carved Thomas Hope scroll back. Circa 1840." Personally, I'd contact a few auction houses and see what they have to say.

This one popped up on Pintrest with the following info:

"An early 19th century Anglo Indian rosewood console table, with foliate carved frieze and entwined serpent brackets, the back with foliate fretwork panel, W.4ft 2in. D.2ft H.2ft 11in. Estimate £8,000-12,000 Gorringes Sept 2016"

And then this one only sold for $2300 in New Orleans (estimate was $3-$5K). There are a number of these tables on liveauctioneers.com. It looks like the more intricately carved pieces mostly sold in the $2-$3K range.

Remarkable. Love the O.P.'s desk and everything else as well. Do they say "Holy Cow" in India? :)
