Bakelite and wood necklace

    Hi all, picked this up today.. wood and bakelite.. Looks older and tests positive for bakelite.. any ideas on age?

    How did you test the "bakelite"?

    I was going to say 1970s early 80s wood and plastic/Lucite.

    Entirely possible that it's bakelite. They were still finding pieces well into the late 60s in the backs of warehouses. I'd call circa 1970 on this.

    This is just kind of a "feeling" I have when I look at your necklace -- late-1950s sack dress era (I made a sack dress for myself when I was in high school and wore long bead necklaces). The detailed design and thickness of the fancy brass links, bead caps/findings, along with the bakelite beads seem more 50s than 70s. Here's a somewhat similar necklace, but with lucite beads, on Etsy identified as 1950s.
