Brass patterned coasters, Eastern

    Hello

    I bought these six brass disc shaped objects from one of my locals. I am tentatively referring to them as coasters from somewhere East. Please help.

    Beautiful, Ratsy. Maybe Renaissance-inspired? So could be European. Sometimes there is a thin line, design wise.

    I think thats exactly what they are . Maybe for hot tea glasses . They are beautiful indeed.

    If they are metal, wouldn't they transmit the heat from a hot glass? Not very protective that way.

    And wouldn't the holes allow any drips or condensation to wet the surface below?
