We have this 18" plant stand....the glass ball has a litho'd fern on it. I'm thinking Victorian, and wonder what you guys think. TIA!

I like it despite myself! How do you determine that spherical glass is "litho'd"?

It looks more to me like the crafter painted on a fern leaf and pressed it into place.

I like it too - maybe the centre piece was a lightning rod?

Anti, I know it is printed because I see the dot pattern in my loop. (I thought it was painted at first too.) Also, the dots are not fine, similar to Victorian prints.

Cx, I immediately thought "lightening rod" when I first saw it. You and I are on the same path ;)

I think Bristol glass was painted, so if this is some kind of transfer or lithoed I don't think it could be called Bristol glass.

Very interesting, thanks. I never knew it was never printed. Thanks :)

Well, I said "I think" so I hope if I am wrong we will hear from someone who knows more than me

Can I grumble at the use of the term Bristol Glass now? ;)

    Absolutely.

I would call this milk glass.

Milk glass, indeed, with a transfer print overlay.
