We had those when I was a kid. My Mom always called them slipper socks.

I remember them too, my kids also had them, You could buy a knitting pattern and make them at home, the blanket stitching around the top of Billy's slippers is home done, maybe the whole thing ... Joy.

Cat & the Fiddle slipper socks. (But nothing wrong with moccasin socks; just never heard that one before.)

    We did as well.

The musical cats look like an old style pattern.

If they are really wool. Maybe 1940s/50s.
I don't think you can buy wool much anymore. If you can, it's expensive. Don't think they would make slipper socks out of expensive yarn.

We also called them slipper socks. I went through several pairs, but can't remember the decorations on them.
I like the term moccasin slippers, but maybe moccasin socks would describe them better?

Wool yarn is easily available, but no one makes kids' socks from it any more. Allergies/sensitivities and you can't throw it in the washer.

    Good to know.
I don't knit or crochet anymore. So don't know what is out there.

Only know that it is very difficult to find any kind of wool clothing that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
    I miss wool flannel.

I don't; I'm allergic or at least hypersensitive. (one more thing to hate about MS)
