Featured Copeland Spode Gilt Dish with Silver Stand

    Hi guys!

    This dish looks very strange, anybody know what its use is. The stand is the unusual part but I dont particularly recognise the shape of the bowl/dish either.

    That's a cracking piece. Probably a serving dish for fancy fruit or sweetmeats, perhaps on a buffet.

    Hm. I'm inclined to think the stand had a glass bowl.

    It would be easier to think it had a glass bowl if it weren't oval and didn't fit so well.

    Ive seen it in person and it does look like the bowl is fitted to the stand. It is strange though definately. Ill keep looking for similar shape bowls without stands

    I don't have a Pinterest account, but this site says your back stamp is from 1875-1890. It looks newer to me but maybe this will help you find out more. The bowl is lovely, very nice! Try searching Spode Imari Oval Bowl.
