In an online auction I bought this copper engraving together with two other engravings. It depicts the bible story of Pontius Pilate who showed Jesus to a crowd. This picture is one of a series of 12 made by Hendrick Goltzius in 1597 showing the Passion of Christ. I was struck by the quality of this engraving.

My example (nr 8 in the series)

The original by Hendrick Goltzius was mirrored.

Next to the original I found several similar pictures, but the other pictures do not match my example exactly:

    - Original by Hendrick Golzius 1597 (Princeton Museum)
    - Copy by Abraham Hogenberg (Rijksmuseum)
    - Copy by Ludovicus Siceram 1623 - mirrored (Museum of Art Philadelphia)

None of the examples above match my example exactly. Let's zoom in to the details:

I have selected the bottom part of all the different versions and mirrored the Goltzius and Hogenberg ones. I believe all these prints had different copper plates. My version is an unknown version as far as I can find, although it was was sold as a copy by Siceram.

I have even found some later copies:
