Featured Filigree silver bowl

Hey folks, happy Friday!

I have this beautiful silver bowl, but I am struggling to identify the maker and age. From research, I understand it is Spanish, but does anyone know the maker and when it was approx. made?

Yes, it is Spanish, with the post-1934 mark for .915 silver.

It is a bonbon dish.

Not questioning, learning here. Definitely looks like silver. Which mark shows the fineness? Is it the star?

 

Yes, the star inside the circle is for post-1934 .915 fineness.

The E looks like it may be a partial hexagon stamp of the SE (Seville) assay office. That type of assay office stamp apparently denotes 1934-1988.

I might have looked at this and thought the "PLATA" meant plate, lol.

 

Plata is Spanish for silver.

 

Good to know! I've never been good with marks, more just how things feel in the hand. Still learning! Thank you.

 

Which is often a good way to tell what it is. If you have some experience, you can even have an idea of the fineness. And silver has a certain smell as well.
