    Good Evening Everyone,

    It's been a little bit since I've been able to post a really good find, so here we go! When I made the purchase, I had no clue about whether my guess was good, because the seller couldn't locate any marks. I just went off of gut feel about the potential positive indicators. Here's what we got! I'm going to start polishing!

    Yes, that was the part that excited me a lot, especially considering this item had to survive being mailed to me!

    No wonder the seller missed the marks. The silver is great, but an intact insert? That never happens! The insert may be worth more than the silver.

    @MrNate
    What are the dimensions and what is this item called? I can't imagine serving food in this, but I guess that's it's purpose.

    I am curious as to its use as well. It doesn't look like a salt.

    It's just magnificent!

    Am also curious as to its size. The e-bo-o listing was for a small salt container, 3 inches. If yours is somewhat larger, it could be for an accompanying piece to the salt, such as for a cold condiment, sauce, jelly. The Germans liked side dishes, like pickled ghurkins, red beets, also mustard sauces, aspic, smoked eel, many others that would fit in your beautiful dish.

    excellent score Mr Nate:) I agree, having the original insert is amazing, can't imagine you could find another very easily. Your polishing just adds to the beauty:)
    No idea on use, I think it looks wonderful with nothing in it:)
