Hi all.I researched this but came up with ZILCH? The label reads, Gorham, then the 3 hallmarks, then Genuine Walnut,Gorham Sterling, mounted.
The lighter was Made in USA,Pat.2,723,547. All I can find are all sterling lighters and only one elongated walnut lighter but no desc.?
Does anyone know the year made? I haven't polished the silver plates yet as you can see, there is a plate on each side. The box minus the lighter measures 2" x 2 1/4" wide.
    Thank you :)

The patent 2723547 was filed Sep 3, 1953 and published Nov. 22, 1955. It was issued to a "Harold P. Bellavance, Attleboro, Mass., assignor to United Findings Co. Inc." a MA corporation. It was for a pocket lighter mechanism. "...of the type in which manual pressure upon an actuator will lift a wick cap and at the same time throw a spark to ignite the wick."

Table lighter with same patent number in a different holder:

and another one in a different holder but says manufactured by the United Findings Co. 1/3rd to 1/2 of the way down the page:

I'd think Lady's dates for the lighter Pat. would work well for the Gorham base also.
    I'd think.....:shy:

I thought it was a 1950s lighter before seeing any further posts. Not a Ronson.

Possibly a shop display thing. Light the customer's cigar for them. Those plates on the sides look a bit too advertising for an item for someone's home.

    Hi Shiloh,
The Gorham label on yours was used 1950s-1960s. It looks like it was made with the Danish Modern furniture in mind. Pyro shows up once in a while she will know for sure.
