Hand painted pin help

    evening all, can anyone tell me if this is a Victorian pin? has c clasp. can't find any markings.. and I'm curious to why the back looks greyIshmael?

    It is a Russian Finift brooch, made in Rostov. The handpainted porcelain plaque is set in silver.
    They still make Finift jewellery but my guess would be 1960s. Russians often use C-clasps on handcrafted jewellery, also on lacquer brooches.

    I don't know which grey part you mean, Tricia. There is the silver, which turns grey, and there is the back of the plaque, which looks mottled blueish on my screen.:)
