I found this at a thrift shop and it looks a little mid century modern style to me. Not sure how old, but I can't make out the signature. Has anyone ever seen one similar? And any help with the signature would be apprectiated.

Here's my guess: Bri Drier. Then I check the Internet, find nothing, and start from scratch.

Apparently, while I was searching, one artist kept popping up, which is definitely a possibility: "Indistinctly Signed" French, I think, from the last name, Sig-ned.

Silliness aside, it strikes me as 1950s / modernist too. Since I collect production cel art, I keep looking at the style of the eyes and nose, and think I recognize those strong hatch marks and angles, but can't place it. Maybe its by an animation artist from that time with other aspirations. Almost like "modernism meets cartoon strip".

Genuinely sorry can't be more help here b/c I'm coming up empty.

I'm going to disgree re age. I think you're going to find that's (much) later than mid-century. And I'm going to ask my parrot questions -- are there any stickers, labels or notations on the back? Would you/could you post photographs of the piece including frame both front and back?

This feels commercial/illustrator to me, but ... I really think the last name is "drier" and that's a real pisser for mucking up the search queries.

Agree. Illustrative rather than fine art. It looks very etsy.

Thanks for the help. I had to take the back paper off to see the artist's signature, because it has slipped slightly in the frame. There is age discoloration on the art paper from where the matting was and there is a sticker on the back where it was framed. IMG_8406.JPG IMG_8407.JPG

Throwing this out there in case it works for anyone: what if the first letter of the first name was a "P" -- and the part that looks like the base of a "B" is actually a swoop of the next letter.

Yeah, I got nowhere with it, but desperate times.
