A more relevant term would be a watch fob. Typically, a prize in some minor swimming contest. The 'S P' in MSP might mean silver plate.

Your item is a medal prize, missing its ribbon and attachment pin. For winning a swimming event, possibly at Moosejaw Swimming Pool in 1938. Bronze is normally 3rd place in an event.

The event had to have taken place in July or August 1938 as in Moosejaw, the temperature was below freezing any other month of that year, but I'm going from memory here, so this may not be absolute fact.

I've seen many of these around in various forms though never a gold one. May even have 1 or 2.

I've bought and sold plenty of them. At a guess it's a high school swimming medal. They also were made in sterling and were sometimes engraved. I'm not sure it ever had a ribbon.

It may belong to a pin that it hung from with a year or event name.

Some medals I received in private school in 1960's. Smaller medal marked Dieges & Clust. I suspect the swimming medal was set up similarly-the larger ring still on it attaches the medal to the wire loop at bottom of the ribbon. Marks as to maker of large medal too small to read-may not be a D&C product.

My BIL got his Master's from RPI, a little later than that medal was issued. :) D&C made tons of those medals. Balfour too.

    Hi,
I have found several of these type medals in old sewing baskets. Momma kept them until the kids grew up and they were forgotten and went into Grandma's (by then) sewing basket to be tossed.
