    I don't know what the lifespan of such a thing can be even if protected.
    Maybe if it was coated with something?
    'Barr grease' or whatever. ;)

    It actually looks like snakeskin and I'm wondering if you should be checking the type of horns on Asian breeds because it looks like a fantasy item from that area.

    Horns vary greatly even within a breed. Hard to confim unless DNA tested. They do not have to point up to be curved. The carving of the 1800 looks modern to me. Done with a dremel tool in my opinion and not well done in the hope of looking old. Or just sloppy.
