These are good guys. They run a BIG antiques center, but didn't know a Keris from a cowcatcher. Thanks to @Any Jewelry I did, not that I know much more. I have no clue if the one I saw is real or a souvenir model, but they called it a "dirk". Oops.

The Japanese blades may be special..........but a ' dirk ' ........Dirk Diggler ???

the 1st Keris is nice but I'd say average.....the 2nd ...hard to see....

Dirk Diggler would take one look at those and decide to stay home! I was eyeing those Japanese blades myself, even though the only knives I know are kitchen knives. Fancy "watered" steel will always grab attention.

    :arghh:
It is a real one, looks like East Java and most likely 19th century.
That label, stuck on the most spiritual part.:inpain: That hurts.:(
We don't see much of the second one, but in that split second we do see the top of the sheath and the carving on the hilt. It is not a Keris, but a 'siraui', used by the Minangkabau of Sumatra. If they were to show the blade, it would look like a small curved sword.
(The Minangkabau also have Keris btw)

I took a screenshot of the siraui, you can see that the top of the sheath has no keris ship, but you can see part of an elegantly swirling curl, which makes it a Minangkabau siraui:

Meant to slip through a sash or belt? I'll be keeping an eye peeled for one of those.

Indonesian daggers are generally tucked into a broad waistband, the keris too.
