Machine jointing

    Hi, Does anyone know when this type of joint was first used? It's in the curved back rest of a spindle back penny carver chair. I'm finding it difficult to date the chair. 20240430_100953.jpg

    Yes. Around for centuries . . . became really popular ca. 1900. Really see it used a lot on shipping box corner joints - a simple and strong machine joint.
