This vase is clearly marked on the bottom. Not sure I have the orientation right. Chinese? Color is the clay color with a clear glaze. Is this modern decorative pottery or is this an old food jar?

It was not made to be a food or other utilitarian jar, so decorative.

I think the mark may be upside down, but I dunno for sure! Pencil rubbing might make it clearer. I think decorative, too, and maybe a studio pottery?

Realized that I left out dimensions. 7 1/4" tall by 3" diameter.

Here is the mark as transcribed. Not sure which way is up.

Looks Japanese, but I dunno for sure. Maybe the number 3 character? We need the peeps who can read Asian characters. :)
