Not thinking much age on this but came from a sale with some older items, so could be vintage. Was getting ready to list -- has anyone seen similar? Do you think Spanish? Mexican? It's pretty heavy, a fair amount of metal in this little guy. Thanks.

Oaxaca? IDK, just what came to mind, but hopefully someone more learned than I will mosey along.

edit: when I google oaxaca rabbit, I get the most bright multicolored items like this dude

so I'm probably wrong. I guess Oaxaca rabbits are a different breed than Oaxaca pottery.

The rabbit is metal, not burnished black pottery? I just realized your title says metal rabbit.
At first sight, I too thought it was Oaxaca barro negro pottery.

Isn't he cunning! But... Why Spain? Why México? I'd think somewhere like Japan more likely. Like this Okimono one.

Thanks, all. :) Not ceramic, metal for sure.

I don't know why I guessed Spain or Mexico... maybe because it reminded me of Oaxaca pottery??

LOL, that makes two of us!

Kind of a mystery piece. Could be Japanese, hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

I thought it was iron, but a magnet doesn't stick. Looking more closely it appears to be brass or copper, anodized or blackened??

Whaaaatttt? How did I miss that?

To OP, ignore everything I said. In fact, ignore that I was even in this thread.

All good! I think that's why I thought it might be Mexican, looks like the black pottery, easily mistaken for such.

Still doing some research, I did list it already on my secondary account ... we'll see. Noticed a few spots of wear on the base that show a gold color coming through. Thinking brass.

This weighs 10 oz, so fairly heavy. Not iron as it doesn't attract a magnet.

It may just be a cute item for someone. It does have kind of a friendly peaceful look.
