I am on the fence about this piece being sterling or just heavily plated. It is not marked sterling in any way, just the Miyakatsu Silver mark with the leafy looking symbol above it. There are no corrosion or wear marks. Light rubbing with my finger shines it right up. Google reveals little. I bought it on gut feeling and 30% off Tuesday (guess where?). It does test as sterling (heavy scraping on touchstone with 18kt acid; I scraped the edge so it should have gotten through any plating). It is 9.5" wide and weighs 13.5 ounces. Wondering if anyone has come across this maker before??? I am assuming Japanese. @MrNate is this a maker you are familiar with??? Thanks for looking and input!

I found a piece by this maker on a Russian site listed as .950 silver. It might well be; you may have scored on this one!

IIRC @Asian Fever might know something about the maker too.

Shine that puppy up, once you do that you may see things that lead to silver or plated.

I just realized that it was a presentation piece, something I can't decipher was having a 10th anniversary in 1972. Can you read what it says, Wenna?

Sorry for the late response. I've been a bit busy scanning the internet for new silver treasure ;). I'm not familiar with the seller, but based on a short search, I would feel confident saying this is going to be 950 silver. A few links to support:

Thank you @MrNate! I had found a couple of those links but with no fineness mark I have been unsure.
