    hi folks

another find from the other day, cheap as chips i thought (though chips aren't that cheap anymore really :))

thought they were cameo glass, but there doesn't seem to be multi colour levels.

always think this sort look a bit cheapy and paint always looks to thin( as in base pics)

but a bit nicer these, thicker and pretty

    6 1/4 inches without damage

anyone have an idea on maker, origin or age

    hard one to guess

    any thoughts or info appreciated

I have Czech - Bohemian glass with the same foot. Also, try Bristol art glass vases.

    Bristol is an urban myth!

It might be an urban myth but if you use those terms for image search or ebay, you will have comparables

That doesn’t make it right. And if you’re trying for accurate attribution, using a totally incorrect term just compounds previous wrongs.

I wasn't trying to make anything right or wrong just giving Charlie terms/words he could use to solve his own mystery.

That is interesting that Bear and Ches think Bristol made glass is a myth.
I would have to disagree and say that could certainly warrant its own thread.
As for these vases, it's hard to pin down the maker as I've seen similar vases from US houses as well, late 19th century.

Much glass was indeed made in Bristol. The problem is the general use of the term for almost anything blue or anything opaque. Bit like using Mary Gregory - or Murano!

And don't get me started on Nailsea.

Oh, thank God. I'm new here and took that a little, (a lot), to literally. I agree with you 100%. I'm not used to talking to people who actually know about glass.
I must say that it is awesome.
