I found this drawing of Tamara Karsavina, who it turns out was a Russian prima ballerina.
It has her name and the artist name that I can only make out the first name for sure - Harold, & what I think looks like Boody?
Can anyone tell who the artist was? What do you think of drawing - is it just an amateur artist or something more?
It appears old / period correct (20s - 30s?) because of the dark paper, but maybe it's all there was in Russia when it was drawn?

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated!

What makes you think it was drawn in Russia?

Big enough fan to draw her, but not big enough to write her name correctly? (Karásvina :D)

I read Harald Bode, but the only HB drawings I can find are those of electronic musical instruments and audio tools in the notes of a (apparently) well known German engineer and designer of electronic musical instruments and audio tools.

Who danced with the Ballets Russes, an international touring company, starting in 1909. She married an Englishman & moved to England in 1918; she died there 60 years later. So she was out of Russia much more than she was ever there. And the writing on the picture is not in Cyrillic.

Agreed with Bronwen. Drawing dancers, especially international ones when they came to town, was/is a very common artist undertaking as well.

But in this case, it looked to me like a copy of a photo/CV and it is. Photo by Alexander Binder.

I had the same thought, and scrolled through a lot of her pics that Google listed, but I didn't find that one.

Looks like Harald Bode was an amateur, but he did spell her name correctly, I read Karásvina.;)
Journey wrote Karsavina, but Harald didn't.
