I'm curious about a table I picked up some years ago at a yard sale. I've not seen another like it, and am curious about a) what type of table this is b) who the manufacturer might be. All I know is that the wood is cherry, and the eagle claw feet are brass with wooden roller balls inside of the "claws". I can't make out what the letters are underneath with any clarity. Anyway, any help or ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Sorry, forgot about that.. The tabletop is approx. 3 ft square, 3/4" thick height is approximately 3 feet as well. The small shelf underneath is about 8" from the floor. I will post better pictures for perspective.

    USA Northeast (Maine specifically)

    thanks!

The letters underneath seem to say

    Design
    Pat. July - (a year?)

    No. 47

Design pat. june 8 1886 is my guess.
It looks like it's part of the Aesthetic Movement.

Aesthetic movement and quite unique. The designer appears to have been aware of what was going on with furniture design in the big northeastern metros. Some Howard’s Restore-a-Finish would provide a big improvement. Love it!!
