Satsuma Ginger Jar

    The mark needs to be clockwise a quarter. I think it says China on the right side.

    It is a Chinese made item in the Satsuma style, they started selling items like these in decor shops around the mid/late 1980's if I recall correctly. They would sometimes have 'Genuine Satsuma' printed on the bottom which is quite funny. Many of them are hand painted and must had taken a bit of time to produce, the value currently is just as a decorative piece. We are starting to see some really large floor standing vases of this type going through salerooms in the UK, I guess the people who bought them originally are re-designing.
