Featured sick phat lava fruit bowl

    hi guys,

    i bought this fat lava bowl yesterday, mainly because of the colour

    signed KR to base, but cant find a mark like it, German ?

    measures 8" diameter

    any thoughts appreciated

    probably best viewed before you've had your dinner !:)

    I don't particularly like it myself, but It seems yellow is quite an uncommon colour for fat lava, as mentioned in this article:

    Can you list some the most popular colors used in the glazes? The least common?

    Whatever color or color combination you prefer, you’ll find it in West German Pottery. Reds, blues, oranges, and earthtones are frequently found. Greens seem to be a little less common. You’ll find yellow in mottled forms or as an accent, but as a significant part of the glaze, it’s uncommon. (True monotone glazes are generally uncommon in any color.)

    It is probably the nicest fat lava I've ever seen. I am even willing to forget it is fat lava.:hilarious:

    I found this one on eBay described as Poole studio pottery Aegean glaze. I’m not sure if that’s right but it does look very similar to yours.

    KR is the Poole decorator's mark. Karen Ryall, 1978-9.

    If you look VERY carefully, you may be able to make out a faint black Poole back stamp. The white clay is typical.

    Most welcome. I've bought a fair few bits of Delphis and Aegean cheap becase people missed the back stamp.
