Tanzanite Ring? Age?

Hey all so this ring was my mothers and I have no idea how long ago she would have gotten it, but she said the stones are tanzanite and that tanzanite can no longer be mined. Maybe that could put a estimated date on the age of the ring then? The stamp in the inside of the ring reads “CID 14k” and I think CID is the makers mark for Clyde Duneier who cancelled his trademark in 1997. Any thoughts are welcomed and appreciated!

 

It is a very pretty ring.
I think your grandmother was right about the stones being tanzanite. But tanzanite is still being mined, and it is a much loved stone.
If the trademark was cancelled in 1997, my guess is the ring was made in the early 1990s.

Agree, tanzanite. Would guess ring from 1980s, if that's consistent with family history. Welcome, Jillian.

 

Will add that the stones appear very well matched, not always the case with tanzanite. An expensive ring & very pretty.

I was thinking second half of the 1980s too. That's when tanzanite was the hot stone.
