    Hi all!

I have always had a fascination with collectibles and things with any story, past, and history. I’m huge into stamp collecting but my travels often take my to homes and estates with amazing collections of other “odds and ends”. I typically pick up things I see that I find extra interesting, much like most of you, and then my partner questions where the line between collecting and the dreaded H word start to cross paths (ahem, hoarding, lol). “If I can still see floor space, it’s collecting!” is my reply.

Anywho, I am mostly a forum lurker and have joined with a goal of finding out a bit of info on some items my partner’s family has kept over the many decades. Some of it is outside my knowledge-base and I hope some of you can shed some light on what I’m looking at. And I hope to read interesting stories on here as well.

    Thanks for having me!

Welcome. I am like a magpie, but also move old things out to make room for new. I see that as one of the differences.

Welcome ! There's a line, or was, but I'm so far across it I can't see where it was any more.

The acquisition of rare & beautiful things is never hoarding, IMO.

Hoarders can't bear to part with anything, they save the most useless things, most collectors move things on as their knowledge grows and tastes change.

I can sell things to make space or because I'm bored with them, I do have a few rare items though that I love and no amount of money could tempt me to sell them....

Welcome. I use to go to auctions thinking Oh I would love that. After having my own antique store for five years only unique and quality catches my interest for keeping for myself other than family items and sentimental items.
