:) These sure seem like they should be Tiffany. I would love to see the serial number. And where would the serial number be on these, location?

    Okay, check this out
https://www.1stdibs.com/jewelry/brooches/brooches/tiffany-co-dress-clips/id-j_39929/ These are listed as dress clips, but no safety catch. I think these are definitely fur clips. However, when I google Tiffany dress clips, all of them come up with the fur clip design with safety catches, and they seem smaller. We also tend to find dress clips with the duet design bar. Do you think DC's pieces are dress clips? Do you think this is the way Tiffany designed their dress clips? Just a thought. Look at these- brooch duet clip combo by Tiffany, Double safety catch on each, I vote dress clips.

I can post the number but I don't think it will mean anything to anyone unless there is an archive of old tiffany serial numbers to check it against... Probably not a lot of recourse. Even if they wore off, they can't be stamped back on. My best hope would be to get a letter of authenticity from tiffany, but also a long shot in my opinion.

It's a six digit number that is on the base piece, not the clips themselves. Could possibly have been put on there for security, as a way to Id it, if necessary.

Hesitate to join in here, mostly because it it so confusing - postings on two threads, and no pictures of the marks (even if it is just '14K'), or even posting the mystery number (if it's scratched or engraved, probably not really useful, but if stamped, it might be).

I have seen this form of fur-clip on pieces by both Tiffany and Cartier, usually marked as 14K, they occasionally also bear the conjoined 'PP' mark of George Schuler/Preformed Parts with the retailer mark, and the same designs can bear only the fineness and the Schuler mark, and some of the same jewelry designs can be found bearing different marks, including other high end retailers.

I also hesitate because though I've owned a pair of Schuler 14K earrings for many years, with his mark and the patent number for the clip-back (that number also found on the earring clips bearing retailer marks), I've never found real confirmation of whether Schuler made findings in addition to jewelry, a thought that seems reasonable given the tenor of the 'Preformed Parts' company name.

Might also mention that Tiffany charges freakishly high prices to research in their archives, wouldn't really be worth it for these, especially without a Tiffany mark (actually it wouldn't be even if marked).

At any rate, that's all I've got, and no time to poke around for anything more useful...

I took a crack at it. At 11PM it was NOT easy. It was even more fun getting a shot of the back of the clip. I had to use the light over my stove, and wedge a paint brush under the clip because the marks are on the inside. The job really needed four hands. Shooting through the loupe made it even more interesting.

I found the patent number on an old Worthpoint auction, easier than digging it out of the back of the pen... It's only for the clip.
